Loose-leash walking (Days 19-21)

one of my dog-running clients desired her dog to interact socially as well as method walking with one more dog, so Ace as well as I satisfied up with them Saturday.

Ace was the perfect match since he is calm as well as submissive. Of course, the satisfying benefited both dogs. It’s always great for Ace to be around other dogs, particularly to walk with them.

I had Ace on the gentle Leader when we very first introduced as well as walked the dogs. He walked extremely well, totally ignoring the other dog which was what we desired him to do.

After a walk, we let them play in the backyard. It was a positive experience for both dogs. Ace really played for when (and didn’t just look for a sphere to chase). as well as her dog got to have his muzzle off while being around one more dog for the very first time in months.

Earlier that day, Ace as well as I practiced some off-leash heeling in West Fargo’s Elmwood Park.

We utilized to go to this park almost daily when we lived close to it. I always utilized to let Ace run without a leash as well as seldom made him heel, so he naturally wished to run as well as check out during this trip too.

Re-visiting the park was great mental difficulty for Ace since he had to stay by my side. He did extremely well as well as did not requirement a leash except for when we passed a lady walking her small white poodle.

I put Ace’s leash on mainly to make that lady feel safer. then for the second half of our walk, I let him run as well as sniff as well as just be a dog.

When Ace is “free,” I make sure to randomly phone call him as well as sometimes have him heel for a few minutes as well as sometimes let him go right back to playing. That method coming to me doesn’t always mean I’m going to end the fun.

I like the photo of Ace above at Elmwood since he appears like a fantastic dane pup.
